Dark Hair vs Light Hair
Dark vs Light????
A question I always get from my clients with damage is "What color should I be?? Dark or Light??". With that being said here are two pics. Same person, same day, different color.
The hair on the left is lighter and just comes off to be damaged and almost unsavable. While the same strands in dark are rich with depth. The dark in the brown gives a beautiful, healthy shine The color on the left is unfilled giving it a faded gold copper look. Then we have the opposite:
Here we have a brunette brightened with blonde. The pieces in the front remind you of damage. Adding more blonde made the look more intense. Definitely achieving a lighter, healthier glow.
Both colors are beautiful but the goal is to choose the colors that are your beautiful. Any tone can be manipulated in such a way that it looks more healthy. The first picture for instance, the copper color, say we took that faded gold copper color and did a full weave highlight with 10 vol blue lightener and Olaplex of course. Hence, giving our faded gold copper color a pretty strawberry blonde look. The second picture: instead of going light in the front lets pull depth throughout. Foil vertical lowlights of black and dark brown with Olaplex around the head, being sure to include over porous ends. This will then fill the light/frayed ends giving them life while staying in the dark family
My answer to the question: the goal is not to get the depth through darkness, get the depth from pigment. Rather than run to dark try adding some of the same level tones with 10 vol or pick out tones in the hair and pull them through. Be creative and before all else "PLAY YOUR WAY TO BEAUTIFUL!"
